The local pet shop has a CAG male ~36 years old.
His name is Jenko and his owner was too old and infirm to care for him.
I think heā€™s been there for around a year.
His price started out at $5,499 and has been slowly going down.
Today it reached an all time low of $3,200.
I want to pull him out of there and give him a home but there are so many things against it.

He doesnā€™t like me. I get the fluffy bird and the stink eye when I get close.
Already been bitten ones (drew blood šŸ©ø too.)
Most birds do like me and I might be able to win his trust but CAGā€™s are so stubborn I canā€™t be sure.

He might not get along with Bella and cause more division of out of cage time.
He might get along with Bella and Bella may no longer have my wife as her favorite person.

If there was some way I could take him on a trial basisā€¦ā€¦.

Itā€™s tearing me apart.
Pet shop does not want me posting pictures or giving their location cuz they have had break-ins and thefts of there parrots in the past.
Heā€™s a beautiful boy fully feathered but I noticed his tail feathers are looking a little ragged this time.

I always get worried about posting pics or videos of my parrots as well for the same purpose. People like to steal parrots especially the ones with value like CAGā€™S. The bad thing is these parrots bond strongly with their handlers. It can cause a lot of stress in parrots to steal them, and can lead to medical issues. Itā€™s rather cruel.

In my experience adopting older parrots they all adapt differently. Usually if you train with them, spend time with them, feed them, clean their cages, and give them baths I feel like they eventually bond with you. It does suck up a lot of time, and it can be challenging in the first few months as you are learning a new parrots body language. If you already have a CAG parrot there is always that potential that you will become the 3rd wheel that theyā€™d prefer not to be involved.

Know how you fee, Wade. At any pet shop that has birds, I spend inordinate time watching and interacting as possible, and always want to take them home with me!
