Hello :) I have a 6-7 month old male cockatiel named Kiko.

This is a very quick question - my mom had a fever and me and my brother got it. We have been distancing from Kiko and not kissing him or cuddling him, but can we at least put him on our shoulder or sit near him? He is very clingy and mad that we wonā€™t pay attention to him. Can he be near our face at all?

Thanks to anyone who replies šŸ¦¢ ā¤ļø

Also, sometimes he sleeps with his head down or tucked in, is that fine and normal?

The vast majority of illnesses cannot be transmitted to cockatiels if we have them, so you are okay to have him on you.

And yes, having his head down or tucked is normal :) If he does it alllll the time, I'd worry, as it's a sign of a sick bird!

VampiricConure is correctā€”most human illness is not something your bird could catch. I have a cold and Willow canā€™t catch that, we have been doing nose to nose snuggling and heā€™s not gotten it.

I WOULD be careful about strep throat or conjunctivitis (pink eye). Strep throat is caused by a bacteria and viral conjunctivitis is simply very contagious.
