Next week the weather is suppose to be in the seventies or close to it so I'm super excited to try out our harness. What are the guidelines for temperatures for our feather friends to be outdoors. Minimum and maximum temps and how long can they stay outside for. Thank you for the help really nervous about trying the harness on for the first time. We have been working on our exercises and I think we might be ready to give it a try. I'm pretty sure I could of slipped the harness over her head the other day. I don't want to make her put it on till we go outside though so she knows when the harness comes out we go out. Timnehs the boss though so we will see what her majesty demands of me when the time comes.:50:

There is a fairly wide belief regarding the temperature in the great outdoors and what temperature our Parrots will tolerate.

The truth is they will tolerate a fairly wide temperature range. The edge to that open statement is: The precise temperature your Parrot will tolerate has everything to do with what they are use too! Whether or not it is a bright sunny day and the range of wind that day (wind chill).

So, if your Parrot has been use to a home that has a nominal temperature of 70 degrees. That would be a comfortable temperature outside. Variation on comfortable temperature outside has much to do with static temperature, plus the amount (brightness) of the sunshine and whether the wind is still or whether their is a wind storm.

Now that is a long way of saying: It depends!

Watch for signs of your Parrot being effected by the weather. Shivering and puffing feathers - too cold. Panting and holding the wings away from the body - too warm.

Enjoy!

Am I the only one who thinks 70 inside is nice but 70 outside is cold?

I'm jealous. There's no way Jasper will ever be able to go outside with me. I can't even get him to leave the living room comfortably. Still working on the kitchen, which is open to the living room. He'll go with me into the kitchen if he's on my arm and he'll stay but if he's on my shoulder, he flies back to his cage. :(

Nothing like a January Day in Southern Florida! Its so very easy to tell the Northerners from the Locals! 65 degrees, Bright Sunshine and no wind. The Northerners are in their swimsuits and the locals are wearing sweaters! :D
