I haven't been on here for a bit so first here is a quick update on Raiden, I found out he is a she. She's grown up quite a bit since my last post. It seems her feathers have changed colors a bit, she used to be green on her head and back and now is more of an orange green mix (I guess their mature color is different than the original color). She had also gotten into shredding her wing feathers and as a result is now flightless for now (and she had gotten really good at flying too). It seems that it may have just been over preening but she only did it to her primary flight feathers. Finally the reason why I'm here is because I was wanted some advice on feeding her. She is now a little over 9 months old but has not yet weaned. I feed her formula 2 times a day (around 90 to 95 cc depending on how much she will take) and once a day I will give her warm soaked pellets where I just hand feed them to her. In her cage I have both pellets and a seed/nut mixture (in separate bowls) and of course I also have water in there. Every now and then I give her fruits or vegetables such as kiwi, banana's, mandarin oranges or grapes in her fourth bowl (I don't go overboard its usually a slice or two of the citrus fruits or maybe like 2 or 3 grapes). The problem is that while she is more than happy enough to go and start munching on all of these things, it seems that she doesn't actually swallow any of it (except the water and some of the juice from the fruits). Is there anything I can do to teach her that you don't just crack seeds open and break pellets up without swallowing them? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
