hello, my 30 year old CAG is been here with me for almost 2 weeks, he came in a tiny cage and was trying to bite all the time, now we changed to a HUGE cage and he is a different bird :) I can go in with my hand and pet him, he does not bite anymore and he tries to mate and regurgitates for me.. last night I heard some commotion and this morning there where 2 black feathers in the cage bottom, tonight he was out of the cage and he tried to fly a little and he lost another one.. is this normal? he does looses some fluff and is always cleaning himself, I spray him with water ( he loves it), is this just part of molting or should I be concerned?:grey:

I think he is molting.are there any pin feathers on the other parts.Pin feather if touched cause pain so please don,t touch with love your bird.Actually even the smaller parakeets like budgies also like big space.Congo is a big parrot & need a big cage which you have given to him.May be the previous feathers were dirty due to small cage & he is shedding the feathers. With the chage you will note after a month or two he will be a clean & neat guy.

Look my birds i never try to touch their feathers & have given them big cages so they remain in peak conditios.Yes some time i touch them with love but that is not every day or every time.

Are there any pin feathers.Give him time, place some toys so that he can play with.If any parrot become bored it can develop feather plucking.Feather plucking is not a good sign.
