Question about Bedtime

Hi, we're adopting a baby Sun Conure in the next week or two. I'm just trying to get everything settled before he comes home. I have read that he'll need about 12 hrs of bedtime. We're going to have him in or breakfast dining area, which is near the kitchen and open to the family room. My husband often stays up late at night until 2am or beyond playing Xbox and then we're up at 6:30 with two kids, 6 and 1, getting ready for work and school and daycare and all that. Would it be best to have him in a separate area in a smaller cage for bedtime? I thought about maybe sending him to sleep in my 6 year old's room since he usually goes to bed around 8.

Any bedtime advice?

I have heard they need 10-12 every night. My GCC does not. Her cage is in my bedroom at the foot of my bed. She wont go to bed until I do. I can shut my door and have all the lights off and she still wont sleep until I sleep also. Because of this, she only gets 7-8 hours a night. She takes frequent afternoon naps though to compensate. She seems happy and cheerful regardless of her not sleeping 12 hours.

My birds go into the office around 5pm - lights out and door closed - and they are quiet until they hear me get up...

I work shift work, so after a night shift, I sleep during the day... The birds are in the office and they're quiet...

i put nut into a smaller separate sleep cage in the spare bed room, around 7 till 7

she kinda resides herself into going in, as its now part of her routine, so when we have had our main dinner, i put her share into her cage an she will go in (sometimes crying) we all eat together and then i carry her up an cover her for the night

at times when we have ppl over she is in our room, and if she hears sounds, she makes snore sounds (like my mans, but very cute and quietly) or what i can only discribe as zombie groans,
so be aware that they do chatter or make sounds through the night, and don't be surprised if it picks up xbox sounds lol

or get a really good cage cover and if your partners quiet is should be ok, but if his a yelper when the game get intense, not to good

If everyone is gone during the day, they will take naps if they didn't get enough sleep. I used to get up at 4am for work. But I was gone by 6am, and the birds just went back to sleep again.

Even now they get 11 hours at night, but they all still take at least one nap during the day. I like when they all nap at once though because otherwise I can't get anything done, lol!

Merlin wakes up and goes to bed when I do. If I'm up till 3am, generally he's up with me, granted he's usually crashed out and cuddling me, but sometimes not. He doesn't seem to be grumpy because of lack of sleep as he'll take naps throughout the day during our 'quiet time' to perk up again. he often sleeps around me anyway, snuggles under the duvets when im in bed on the laptop. They'll find ways even if they are kept up late.

I don't think keeping the sun in your kids room will be good, I just have images of a night fright, your kid going to help and then him losing fingers! If your husband is quiet then I don't think it'll be a problem, your sun will nap it off, especially if he doesn't do it every night.
