Quaker vs Green Cheek Conure in Nippiness?

Hi,

I have a Green Cheek Conure that I love, but he is nippy. He isn't just nippy when he doesn't get his way - he is nippy when he is excited and happy!

I am considering getting a Quaker, but before I do, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they are as nippy as the Green Cheeks. I know every Quaker is different, but in general, do they have the nippy reputation of the Green Cheeks?

Thanks!
Birdy :)

Wish I could help, but I have no experience w/Quakers, and limited experience with green cheeks(we have had ours for about 2 mths).

Ours is a nipper too. He does it when he is "playing" with us... it doesn't really hurt (I think they call it "beaking"), and he uses his tongue alot when he is doing it. I don't really understand the behaviour because everything I read says birds don't do it to their fellow feathered friends, so then why is he using his nipping to play w/us?? He seems happy/content and it is like a little puppy chewing gently chewing on our fingers. I let him do it, which I am sure is bad, but he seems so content. LOL!

Sorry that I have no good advice, but hopefully someone here can be of assistance.

My answer probably isn't quite as helpful as you'd like, but nippiness in Quaker parrots is very much an individual thing. Some are nippy, some aren't; my Quaker Ralph isn't nippy at all.
