Hi friends
A local breeder here in GA has passed away tragically and our Aviculture community is in shock.
Her family cannot care for her large flock and I am taking on the task of placing her Indian Ringneck breeding pairs.
Any time someone is selling “proven breeders” ask yourself “what is wrong with them?” This falls into three categories:
-Something is wrong with the pair: old, sick, incompatible, same sex, etc. “proven” just means they have had babies at some point, but many people use the term to mean “bonded” or even that each bird is proven, maybe not together.
-Something is wrong with the species. For example proven pairs of parrotlets are extremely easy to come by right now; they boomed in popularity and a lot of breeders got into them, but they are actually kind of stinkers compared to many similarly sized species; a huge bird in a tiny body, and their popularity is rapidly dropping, leaving a lot of breeders with a lot of birds they can’t sell, and providing tons of “proven pairs” for the peril of new breeders.
-Something is wrong with the breeder. This can be everything from legal trouble, disability, natural disaster, chronic illness of a spouse, anything that makes a person decide to get rid of a pair that is still producing. That, sadly, is the case here. Shari was taken before her time by cancer.
So I’ve been finding homes for her flock. Some will come to me, others have homes arranged already. One pair remains, two green birds. The male has some plucking.
These birds are NOT TAME and I will NOT let them go to anyone who is going to torment them by trying to tame them! Indian Ringnecks are not cockatiels; they rarely tame as adults and its cruel to put them through that attempt at this point in my opinion. They need to go to someone who can provide a minimum of a 2’x2’x4’ flight, better yet an aviary. A breeder is fine as long as I get pics etc of your setup and references on your care practices. They are $775 together, and you can have a nest box and flight cage with them if you can pick them up in Columbus, GA. If you are interested in them go ahead and comment to let me know and we can PM (moderators May need to help if you are a new member) and arrange a phone call. Yes, a phone call will be required; these are living creatures and I need to get as much of an impression as possible. I can ship them if necessary to the right home.
