Problem with my bird? Help :(

I've had my lovebird for about 2 months now and he's been a blast. Tonight I noticed these spots on/around his nose that look like blood and it's actually making me extremely nervous. What makes me even more nervous is that tomorrow afternoon I'm leaving for the weekend and having my dad and girlfriend come keep him company so I won't be here to monitor anything. He hasn't been acting any different than usual so I'm really confused. Any ideas?

The link for the picture is https://imgur.com/gallery/2OVQWM2 , I'm not sure how to embed pictures into posts.

Don’t fret; he’s getting his big boy feathers, that’s all :)

Are you sure about that? I'm not saying you're wrong it just feels like too easy of an answer for me worrying this much

So based on my picture, would you still call a vet? I posted the same exact post/picture on Reddit and one or two people said that it looks like it could be irritated skin that might need some kind of treatment.

It looks like new feathers growing in to me also. I honestly don't believe you need a vet at this time.

Thank you so much! Saved me a lot of worrying this weekend

But that's not skin you are seeing... it's feathers. All is good! :)

That one is going to be a great looking bird :)

I’m glad you are taking action when you are concerned! That attitude may save your little one some day. But this time, yes, I am 100% sure you are just seeing the adult feathering coming in :)

In some cases a radical change in color WOULD be alarming, but your little one is going through the exact color change he is supposed to, just like all the other lovies that color :)

I'll also chime-in that your bird is simply molting, and these are his new threads, not blood...his skin isn't at all irritated. He's probably itchy from the pin-feathers, but that's all, and nothing a shower can't help...BTW, at a year old he's right at the exact age for his big-boy feathers to come in, so it makes perfect sense...But as Sage said, it's great that you care so much and are looking for help. It's always better to ask questions about your bird than to not ask them...
