Isolated Holler in the Appalachian Wilderness
Parrots
B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
My grandmother passed away this morning. She was my last grandparent and the mother of my late father. Many emotions and memories to work through, also getting away for her memorial service. Tentatively set for some time July. She used to throw a big picnic at her lake house for the 4th every year... big coast guard family. She especially loved watching the kids play in the water, the fireworks, and the boat parade... she loved playing host, and was very active in her town's government when she was a younger senior. She nearly made it to 90. She will be missed.

She was the one who got my dad interested in birds, and he was the one who convinced my mom that 8 year old me was ready for her own budgie. We had a complicated relationship, but what family doesn't

She may not have been the warmest woman, but I will miss her very much.

Sad they didn't both live long enough to come to my wedding.

I'll still be around off and on, but I likely won't be as interactive/responsive.

Deepest condolences for your loss, Iā€™m so very sorry. Families are complicated and often difficult, thatā€™s true and still it breaks our hearts to lose a member. Hugs and positive thoughts for you and yours. Weā€™ll feel your absence while looking forward to your return.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of your grandmother, please accept my deepest condolences. I am sure she was proud of your devotion to birds.

We'll be here whenever you wish to visit!

Iā€™m sorry for your loss bug, sometimes itā€™s those complicated relationships that are the most intense. Iā€™m sure your grandmother will be greatly missed.

So sorry for your loss - please take care of yourself.

I am so sorry :(
It's always the hardest on those who are left behind though---at least, that is what I believe.
She is in a better place, I am sure..Cliche as it sounds.
I hope things get easier and that you find joy in her memory.

My deepest condolences bug. Grief is such a heavy emotion. She sounded lovely and despite everything, you had some good times. Don't be a stranger.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself during this difficult time, you and your family are in my prayers.

Words are so inadequate at these times... and yet it's all I can offer. I'm so sorry for your loss, you have my prayers and sincere good wishes. Take care, and I hope you come back soon!

Thank you all for your kind words, prayers, and thoughts. I have a windchime that used to hang down by the lake at her house hanging in a tree in an area where I like to sit with the chickens on nice days. The sound brings back many good memories.

I'm told her passing was peaceful. She slept for the final few days and slipped away calmly. I'm so glad that we were able to keep her out of a nursing home until the end. She never wanted to end up in one of those places.
