So my parakeet looks tender and her butt feathers are out, what i am worried about is the same thing happened to my parakeet who died a coupe of years ago and i dont want that to happen to this one. her feathers are puffed she is acting pretty fine she is drinking and eating fine. thanks post comments please!!!!::11:

can you post a picture? how old is she? she may be just old enough to want to lay eggs but not old enough to pass them safely and she can become egg bound. I had a lovebird hen who became egg bound I would keep her in a very warm dish of water in the bathroom while a hot shower was going to get the room steamy for a few miniutes the water just high enough to cover her swollen part and them rub olive oil on her vent gently with a q-tip after a day of doing that many times she passed the egg. However egg binding is very serious and can lead to death an avian vet can get the egg for you if she is indeed egg bound she sounds like she may be. How long has she been swollen??

Only by taking her to a vet who can properly determine the situation as we can only speculate. Once birds show signs of being sick, they can deteriorate very quickly! They have tendency to hide it until they're pretty sick...
