Made some more progress. I started preening Cappy today while she sat on her perch. Just touching the straws, she was ok with it so I started being a little more vigorous. Ended up she loved it, raised her foot to her chin like she was thinking. Then using her toes showing where she wanted me to preen.
We ended after about 10 mins. She came to me while I was sitting down later and pulled on my pant leg. I got up and placed my arm on the floor and she stepped up. I placed her on my lap and she climbed up on my stomach where we both began preening. Which is great because I have not seen her preen herself hardly at all.
She ended up with her head beneath my chin, I think she fell asleep at one point. Still, kind of scary having a big beak that close to my face after only knowing her for a few weeks.
