This is a 9 day old Red Eyed Green Cheek Conure. Mom, and Dad abandoned at 4 days. This is the second, red eyed chick from them that they abandoned. The first one did not make it, but the parents are feeding two black eyed chicks just fine. Please keep this little one in your thoughts? The breeder is able to feed it 2 ccs every 3 hours now!

OMG so small I thought it was a piece of coloured cotton wool
I sure hope he makes it, God bless you for your good deeds

In my prayers .....

If anyone can keep the little guy healthy its Jack. He is so good with them.

What do you mean exactly when you say "red eyed"? Albino? I hope the poor thing makes it.

I'm not really sure....I just posted what he said when he was telling me about it. Ill see it today at lunch time and update then :)

What a special tiny baby! So cute! My prayers are with him!!

It is so tiny that like Antoinette at first I didn't realize I was looking at it. Prayers the little birdie pulls through and is ok.

Wishing the little baby the strength to pull through .
How sad , poor baby :(

Aww, I sure hope he makes it. Where his two front toes chewed off by the parents or are they just naturally that short? 9 days isn't too too young, many people have successfully hand raised day 1 chicks, hopefully the parents were just being neglectful because of the strange eye color and the baby is healthy and pulls through. I bet he's going to be beautiful! Please keep us updated on the little guy.

Awwwwwww how fragile can they be?? Would love to give this little guy a name so that he feels wanted here in this world. How about Tiny?

awwwww. I love Tiny. <3

It's amazing how these tiny little new hatched babies have such a will to live. If this little bub is healthy then it will make it.

I have 2 sun conure babies i had to rear from hatch & they are about 5 weeks old now. For some reason they die in the nest.

After you mentioned his red eyes I went on a crazy google searching spree trying to figure out what color green cheeks have red eyes. The only two I could find were fallows(true fallows, not cinnies) and these "suncheeks" http://www.feathert.com/suncheek.html

Has there been any accounts of an albino gcc? I found two accounts of people claiming to have them but they were not what I could consider reliable by any means and neither had pictures. So, at the moment, is anyone working with albino gcc's?

He is soooo itty bitty, but breeder says he is so much stronger just over the last 2 days. I think he will make it. For some reason the parents didn't want it in the nest because of its eyes. That research seems to be the only thing I can find too. I'll keep everyone posted as this little one grows up. He's gonna be special!

Poor baby..I suppose that's not uncommon? Creatures sometimes abandoning young because they are different?

He sounds like a very special baby and I hope he makes it.

I think it's such a shame, when people experiment with colours.. Why can't we just leave to birds with the colours they are supposed to be?

What a cute baby! It's so BRIGHT!

I tend to agree with Lene... I understand that mutations are neat, but I really couldn't care less if my bird was mutated or not. I think that people look best with their natural hair color, and so do birds.

I agree also about letting genetics decide on the color of a bird. It is just like breeding all different kinds of dogs together and we come out with doodles noodles and no poodles.
