I've been very busy all day doing flooring for my boss' house but it was close to my house where I just drop by to check on her. She's been eating her new food pretty good and she did not pee in her diaper at all since last night but I'm keep up with the treatment.

The test results came in, there was blood in the urine and infection in her blood work so it was the stones that's causing her to get sick. So now the plan is to keep her on the new diet and keep on treating her with antibiotics for one month and go back for another xray to see if the stones dissolved, if not she will need surgery. We're trying not to put her under surgery if possible, the vet suggest the same. So we'll see how she does on her next xray exam. Her eyes are looking better today after we started the antibiotic ointment, so that's one good sign of improvement. Other then that, she eats and drinks fine. I'm just glad there's no other issues with the results....

<breathes HUGE sigh of relief>

Thanks so much for the update, Mike!!! :) I truly hope the stones dissolve on their own with the new diet and meds.

Has your vet, by any chance, mentioned that instead of surgery, an ultrasound could possibly shatter the stones to small enough pieces so that she can then pass them easily?

I know this can work for people....just a though..an idea :)

Continued prayers and well wishes are coming your way, hang in there, and please give Alexis EXTRA belly rubs from me.

Jersey,

No she did not suggest that, but I'll ask her in a month if the xray shows no improvement! She's been peeing outside and not inside, not once she pee in her diaper. Which that is a huge improvement unlike before she couldn't even hold it in and pee everywhere, on the couch, floor, blanket, anywhere....But she still pees quite a few times while outside, but at least she's able to hold it and ask to go outside. I hope she keeps it up to improve as it putting me at ease a bit more.

Now my other dog Bucky the Chihuahua is sick, he gets allergies every year during December, during spring time, and during fall he gets it pretty bad so I'm giving him benedryl which that was what the vet told us to give him so we don't have to keep bringing him back cause he gets it three times a year....

Now I'm giving myself medication cause I seem to get the same thing Bucky gets every year during the same time....lol....So every year during the same time Bucky and I are on benedryl....

thank got Alexis is getting better. when i read your first post about the symptoms, before you went to the vet, i got really worried. my aunts cat had the same xact symptoms, but she ended up having cancer, though i cant remember what kind. they had to put her down. thank got Alexis will be okay. hopefully the stones disolve and no surgery is needed. Alexis is in my prayers!!

Thank you! We're hoping the same. So far she's doing good but she's not on fully new food yet as we're still mixing so she don't get sick until next wednesday when she eats just the new stuffs.

here's hoping you and Mikey have a better day today. I was glad to hear that she should recover!...there is nothing worse than a sick animal, next to our children of course.

She continues to show improvement tonight. My partner did not listen to put a diaper on her but she's been really good about asking to go outside and haven't had one accident in the house. A friend of mine suggest giving only filtered water from now on, that's what her vet suggests since TN water is very hard with all the excess minerals. Her dog had the same issue. All of our birds are on filtered water, now the rest of the crew follows. I should never have gotten rid of my RO/DI system as it was a expensive equipment to purchase in the first place when I was doing saltwater fish tanks. So now we're depending on our Britta water filter for everyone to consume.

Things are looking good your end Mike with Alexis, I am so relieved.
Look at the bright side at least you still have the Britta water filter to use.....
You are a wonderful guaridan, keep it up.
