Okay, I know the basics of potty training (please don't nag. :[) I know that you can put your bird over a potty area and it might just happen. And I know that smaler birds are just so hard to potty train because of the frequency that they poop. Ever 10-20 minutes. :11: I've only heard of 30 minutes as the max which doesn't seem healthy.
Anyway, what I'd like to know is if my bird can fly over to his/her potty area by himself? He can fly to his special area, poop, and come back. Can it be done? I've only read about taking your bird to the area, not the bird actually going there on his or her own.
My method:
At first, place him there as the normal potty training routine. If he goes, hurrah! Praise! Do this a couple more times when he gets the hang of it. Slowly decrease the space so he can fly there on his own. I would also flight train him, so he would come back to me if called.
Will he hold it if he's occupied and have intestinal issues or will he drop everything and go? Is it possible?
Thanks!!!
