My friend got a Severe macaw, which he bought from Petshop in singapore. But the Severe macaw, which got some defected on the Backside only without feather. And i do ask my friend about the informations, and he told me the shop boss also dont know what happen to the severe macaw. and he was just mentioned the bird was imported from euro. And the severe macaw was given my friend on a hug discount. So i wonder is there any treatment can be cure on the issues? i do ask my friend for a pic of the defected area, and he told me the macaw was unable to touch, is wild and untamed macaw. so i also dont know how am i going to help him. but my words to him is send to Vet to check up will be the best result. So i not sure he will bring or not. as i am too worry about the chestnut macaw problem.. So i posted here just hope can get some guide and info my friend.

So to be clear, the 'defect' is missing feathers correct? If so, are the feathers missing from the tail or from the underside of the bird near his vent?

Even if the friend cannot handle the bird, I would imagine he could at least get some pics of the bird in it's cage to give us a better idea.

Welcome! I am so distressed to hesr about this poor bird... wild, afraid, hurting and in a strange new place. Thank you for trying to help. Lots of people here will help you out. Meanwhile, you can take any of the issues or topics you just mentioned, use the Search Tab and then read about it. The people here are an amazing source of information, advice, and support. I'm glad you found us! YES, the bird needs urgently to see a vet. Please try to do all you can, and thank you again.

Yes, vet and soon. WHen parrots pluck ( pull their feathers out) it is usually not that area. Around the vent and butt can mean more medical issue then a psycological one. Keep us posted on your friends macaw. Thanks

for me i dont think is a plucking problem. Cos just that area botak no feather nearby the butt... Just weird to see that happen on a parrot...

If the bird has diarrhea, they can pluck the vent area to clean the area. A bird with prolonged diarrhea is usually a quite serious issue which requires immediate medical assistance.

If the bird is wild, your friend will need to catch the bird either with a towel or net. Good luck with the bird and I hope he gets a full recovery :)
