My little girl has been rubbing her ears and yawning several times throughout the day for the whole few months i've had her. I thought it was just from getting water in her ears in the shower but now she does it even on non-shower days. Do you think she has an infection?

She has already been on antibiotics for FOUR WEEKS because the vet gave us the wrong one the first time around. Ugh. Could she still have an ear infection after all that?

Should I get her something from the drugstore? I was recently in a car accident and I can't afford a whole vet trip for something I can treat myself. Her ear canals look normal-- whitish pink and not obstructed.

What did the vet say the first time? I definitely would not try OTC antibiotics, especially if she's already had a course of antibiotics from the vet. I suppose she could have something like a fungus or a viral infection which wouldn't respond to antibiotic, but if her ears appear normal, maybe they are fine. Did the vet culture bacteria when the antibiotics were prescribed?

If you pay extra close attention to her when she does it, the possibility exists that it's a learned behavior.

I'd defer to anyone who actually has experience with ear issues.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

Her first antibiotic and antifungal (and the second ones ) were due to a yeast infection in her beak and bad bacteria in her fecal sample. They took a culture at the second visit (~3 weeks ago) and say it will be ready in 30 days. She hasn't been back since the second round was done.

Yes, it's extremely possible that she does the ear rubbing for attention! I'll pay more attention to when she does it, such as if it's because she's mad I'm ignoring her. If things look normal, should I not worry?
