Puck has been unusually good mannered and sweet the last couple of weeks! He's been less whiny about going out, and has been lots of fun when we do go out. He was having demonic episodes regularly for a while, but they pretty much died off. I think it's because I got him a good light, and I have been putting him to bed earlier.

TONIGHT, however, he turned on me! I was at my mom's house, and he was on her shoulder, and I walked into the room, and he all of a sudden he went into demon mode. I have no idea what brought it on!

I reached out to him, and he lunged at my hand and drew a little blood. He latched on, so I shook him onto the floor. My mom, being the nice person that she is, picked him up, and he walked up her arm to her shoulder again! I was afraid he was going to attack her face! My goal was to keep him away from her face, so I grabbed the nearest cloth I could (a blanket) and grabbed him, while he was trying to viciously bite me and the blanket. I took him to his cage (he has one at her house too), where I had quite a hard time getting him to stop trying to shred the blanket. He kept trying to bite me whenever I got near, and kept displaying scary behavior.

He continued to display aggressive behavior for 40 minutes! Demon mode has always been over in about 5 minutes, until this. I left him alone in a dark room for a while, and he wouldn't calm down. I tried talking to him. He kept trying to lure me over to bite me some more. At one point, after about half an hour, I thought he was okay, so I took him out, and he was nice for about 20 seconds before he latched onto my hand again! I have 2 bleedy owies from tonight.

I took some videos of him displaying and being vicious, but I don't know how to put them on here. They're actually kind of funny, as long as you're not getting bit by him.

I eventually toweled him and stuck him in the travel cage so we could go home, because it was getting late. He fussed the whole way home. When we got home he acted fine, and went inside his big cage. I shut him in put a blanket over the top.

Now he's out (I missed him), and he's acting like a little angel now. What a little jerk.

I laughed so hard at your comment! LOL.

Most of the time he is awesome. Sometimes he's not. I suggest having a towel or something in easy reach, maybe keeping it near his cage or something. He's very entertaining when he's in demon mode as well, unless you are getting bitten, or just got bit. Once I got him in his cage he started running around in circles on his ceiling, swinging by one toe, attacking cage bars, and his toys.

I have a few scars on my hands from the little blood drinker. He keeps me on my toes.

We talked about dousing him with holy water, but alas, we had none. I will ask my mom to see if she can get some next time she goes to church.

How funny! I squirt Bridgit and Sarah with Holy Water from time-to-time and sometimes, I even add a drop or two to their water dishes. IT WORKS!!! :D

lol holy water will probably start my nut chanting! i generally find when they get this way out, leave em to it, like i do with kids lol

Holy water shouldn't hurt the bird, since it is just water that has been blessed.

Unless it is a vampire bird, in which case, the bird may burst into flames when exposed to holy water.

Was he sleepy at the time? Some birds get upset just like humans if they get sleepy, hungry or are just away from their home too long. My bird gets very grumpy when he is tired or hungry - but he is not half as bad as my partner!

No, it was quite a while before his bedtime.

I've noticed that he does demon mode more fequently (and is just generally grumpier) if he doesn't get enough sleep. Besides, I slept a LOT the last couple days.

Caiques can be unpredictable at times.. My worst bite was from a BHC. They can be fun and playful though...

I think he was probably trying to defend ur mom. Looks like he really likes her or, he could have some crazy mood swings lol

I'll have to agree with cockatielfan17. Sounds like spring is in the air and your mom, maybe, has taken his fancy! I've never taken Amigo anywhere away from the house except to the vet, he travels well when going there, just never thought about exposing anyone to his self! Yeah, I don't think I would even attempt that without full coverage accident insurance.

My Neo can go into mood swings with me for a few days..... thank yourself lucky you only get it for 40 mins!
