The owner of the wholesale shop called me today....... he visited the potential buyer at home, who wanted to adopt Mishko. he liked the environment, setup and the cage etc.
Mishko was officially adopted on Monday........ I am so happy for him........
I have been given the new guardian's telephone number, and was told I am allowed to visit him, made my day.......
I chatted to the gentlemen named James today, he mentioned the Mishko is a bit stressed, but has settled down more today. He has dealt with big birds for a number of years.
He invited me to visit Mishko, said I will in a month's time, when he is more settled.
Another story with a happy ending JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT HA HA

I'm so happy for you!! Very glad that Mishko found a good home, what a happy ending.

That was very nice of James to invite you to visit Mishko, what a blessing. Please do tell us how Mishko is doing, once you visit him again.

Of course I will keep my "birdie family' updated.
It feels like a weight has been lifted, just knowing he is being well looked after, and loved. :D

Every Thursday I pop into the wholesale shop, where I purchase Mishka's pellets etc.
I asked after Mishko, apparently he is doing great. He has settle down splendidly. He is in an aviary with another Macaw, and it's a female. Apparently he "mother's" her all day, preening her. I believe he talks 24/7. James the new owner mentioned they are a match made in heaven.
I have decided I will not be visiting him, for my sake. I know the end result will be me pinning for him. It took me days after seeing him to settle down again, and stop thinking of him. I am an extremely sensitive person.

I am just so thankful Mishko was placed into a caring and loving home

Hi there! Just wondering where the parrot hotel is you mentioned about in Toronto. I have a Double Yellow Head needing care when I go on vacation once in a while.

Thanks!
Elisa

You do not need a garden for a macaw but time out of the cage is very important. While I understand space is an issue, I had taken in two different macaws at different times and had them in the same room and slowly right next to each other. They both stayed on their own cages/playstands but liked having company. You just have to make sure that your AG is secure when you let the macaw out and vice versa. Clipping wings might help so they dont fly to other's cage.

I think its meant to be go get him! oops should have read the whole thread before I posted!

Antoinette: What species of Macaw is Mishko? That was a bittersweet story, by the way. You posted about it before I joined here and I've just now noticed it.

No problem, Wendy :). I just felt I should mention it ;). We all get things wrong now and then... just last night I told Tab it was Tuesday here when obviously it was Wednesday . It wasn't until she semi-sarcastically said "that would make you two days behind me" that I realized my brain-lapse and felt like a fool :09:.
