Hi, everyone!
I've had Kiwi for about 4 months now, and we are slonly making progress. He won't do step up yet, but he'll let me help him with pin feathers daily for up to ten minutes! So that's good, but I'm starting to wonder if he poops "too much". I've never had a bird and clean his cage once a week (too little?) but sometimes there's A LOT of popped and idk what bird diarrhea looks like. I tried giving him pellets when I first got him but he refused to eat them or any fruits or veggies. He only wanted seeds. What I do is make him bird bread with whole wheat flour, cornmeal, pulverized pellets, fruits and veggies. I cut them into little squares and freeve them. I give him the bread mixed with seeds every day, and sometimes try to give him just fruits but he's not interested. Do you guys think the bread is enough to keep him healthy??

I'm going to attach some pics of his poop (sorry!) Hoping some of you guys can give me some feedback if you think it looks normal or if you spot some warning signs.

Thanks! J & K :green2:

Looks like normal poo to me.

I clean the Rbird's papers every couple of days because he makes so much poop. Most of 'em poop every 15 minutes or so.

About diet...
I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. 30-ish years ago, Harrison's was still a small company. My vet was actually able to talk to Dr. Harrison about my bird's species and status, and they decided on the High Potency. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry. He was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic.

I have also been trying to introduce Rocco to fruits an veggies everyday, I do this everyday, an he likes apples ,bread a small cracker,or chip but not to much cracker or chips because if salt, but as soon as I rattle a bag, he goes nuts until I give him so I blot the small chip an or cracker,to help get off as much salt as I can,I feed him tropic mix, an that is pretty expensive to me ,but the pet an garden place recommend it more than bulk seed.. love to try harrisons, but fixed income doesn't fit in ..however he really only pics out what he wants, he won't eat the pineapple or even some of the big stuff, I sometimes think he's not getting enough to eat,,but does seem content ,I just want him to eat fruits an veggies,an I buy an buy different things,An it just goes to waste, any suggestions, oh! an in clean his cage couple days

In the long run, it doesn't really cost more, for us at least, because there's no waste...
Just my opinion.
Good luck to you!

I know what you mean about feeling like hes not getting enough food. Sometimes I feel like he'll never like fruits or vegetables :'(
