I am bird-sitting for an elderly couple who have two rainbow lorikeets and 3 cockatiels. The cages are situated in the corner of the room and they have a row of laminate floor boards in this area to protect the carpet.

However they did not think about the walls, and the wall behind the cages is covered in poop. I don't think it has been cleaned in quite some time (and probably the source of the ripe citrus stench when you walk in the door...) and I am sleeping on the sofa a few feet away from the birds. I cannot handle this for 4 days.

They rent, so I can't just strip the wall and be like "I stripped your wall of poop so you'll have to repaint" which was my initial instinct. What can I do to clean this off? The walls are painted.

I really don't want to but should I just scrub it off? It will ruin the paint, and they'll have to repaint.. But I have rainbow lorikeets myself and I know first hand what their lava poop can do lmao.

I can't get hold of them to ask what to do, which is why i'm asking here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hot, soapy water???? If the paint is decent, you should be able to get it off without ruining the walls/paint. :32:

My go-to now for getting poop off most anything is warm water and Gain Laundry Detergent. Not sure what is in there that attacks and melts poop but it works and no bad smell or after affect. Might have to wet it and let it sit for a few on a heavy area but it does work

Like the Wendy Lady said... hot soapy water and let it soak up the solution. Take off a bit at a time. WEAR RUBBER GLOVES. Nice of you to do this for the elderly couple ( and birdy sitting).

Agree with Wendy. The couple are probably use to the smell by this time.

i have painted and textured walls. As suggested you want to wet the walls, preferably with a spray bottle, or dab it with a wet cloth. Now for a word of caution, it is really easy for the paint to come off, while you are scrubbing it doesn't look like u are doing much damage, but once it drys and u step back and look it ends up being much worse than you thought.

So my suggestion is, do not try to get it all off at once. Wet it, wait for it to soak, then work it very gently and let it all dry. couple hours later or the next day try some more. I honestly couldn't get it all off my walls but i can't remember if i bothered to use soap or not, but i was dealing with dried fruit not poop

I've used [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Poop-Off-Bird-Remover-Sprayer-32-Ounce/dp/B0002G7ZQE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1456063295&sr=1-1&keywords=poop+off"]Poop Off[/ame] for as long as I can remember. Works easy and fast and smells good. The more wet you get the walls the more likely you'll damage the paint.

If it were me, I'd find a paint match and just clean and repaint.

Another thought, perfect spot for a nice, washable poster!
