Anybody please tell me whether they are male or female? I have just bought the cockatiels, but I cannot determine thier sex. Thanks to all. Bye

The one on the right appears to be male because of the bright cheek patch. But the only way to know for sure is to get them Dna sexed.

The one on the right appears to be a male because he has bright orange cheek patches, in cockatiels the males have brighter cheek patches than the females. So I think the one on the left is probably either an immature male or a mature female and the one on the right is definitley a male.

To determine if the normal grey is a male, look at the underside of the flight & tail feathers. A young male at around 4 months will have disappearing white spots & as he goes through his 12 month molt his flight & tail feathers will change to a solid grey where the hen will retain her spots & her tail will stay barred. A male at the age of 4 months will whistle & be a lot more noisy than a hen.

Your other tiel is split pied so the yellow & orange will be a lot more brighter as the pied mutation brings out the colors more. You should also be able to sex it the same way.

If they are both young birds under 12 month to visually sex them in a photo its very hard. However if they are over 12 months & just by looking at the pics i would say they are both hens.

You should be able to sex both by observing underneath the wings. Look for dots going from the primary feathers all the way to the secondary feathers, if it connects all the way to the last feather, its a girl, none, half, 3/4 of the way its a boy.

Shopkeeper isn't always correct on age as one of the shop that bought my babies before told the new owners wrong age and sex when I already sexed them and give them the hatch date. Have you check under their wings yet?

Yes, but they both have dotted undersides of tail and flight wings. Only different is that one's chik patches are distinguishably brighter thn the other.

On the wings, dots from top to bottom all the way? Right down to the last wing feather by the body! Even if there's a few that don't have it, it would be a boy.
