Bit embraced but im gonna go for it.

In Jan I had really savvier itches all over my body
So I Went to the doctor after a few weeks of non stop itching especially at night.
The doctor said I had scabies and eventually gave me some cream
I tried the cream for a week or two, but it did not work at all.
I read up about it on line and saw people saying it was hard to get rid off and most ppl only had luck with bleach bathes.
So I tried the bleach bathes and with in a day or two I was back to normal, It really started to work, However I question if it actually was scabies or some other sort of ''mite'' as I researched it on line, Anyway I was just glad to get rid of them, But from today my macaw is scratching him self all over with his feet and his beak, I can tell something is not right, his never done this before, im 100% sure his got what I had, and I have no idea what I can do about it. Please help its more painful for me to watch him having this then when I had it. Please advise me what I can do!. Thank you very much

Oof, that sounds awful! If you really think he has caught something first plan of action should be taking him to a vet.. that way you can find out what it is specifically and he can either prescribe you a medicine or tell you about what you can do.

Have your macaw checked out by a avian vet!!!! Where bouts are you located at? Are there birds nesting within the attic?

Mikey you could well be right, but no one else in the house had an issue apart from me and now the macaw, The doctor said it was scabies but I researched online and it didn't add up, either way something very similar nothing worked apart from having to bath in bleach daily since then its gone, ive started cleaning the house and the macaws cage daily in bleach, and will hoover each day after work, but its the poor bird I feel for sitting in the corner just scratching away, im go to the vets soon as I can and see if he can be any help or not. fingers crossed. Thanks again guys

Could the Macaw have mites and if you are only handlinghim, maybe why only you have itching? Not sure, just throwing it out there? I hope it is resolved for both of you.

Please take him to the vet as soon as possible. His small body is so much more susceptible than a persons is.

For future reference, when scabies has an outbreak, it's very simple to pass. Door handles, buggies, money, touching skin, just about anything an infected person comes in contact with has the chance of also being infected.
The great thing? If you ever catch it again, go to a health food store and get tea tree oil shampoo, as well as tea tree oil. Put 2-5 drops of the oil to every quarter sized dallop of shampoo, and wash your body like you would with body wash, paying attention to crevices.
You can turn the water off and let it stay on your skin for a few minutes while you wash and condition your hair. This is do wonders. Tea tree also work on lice. Better then the shampoo you can buy from a pharmacist.
Infact the lice shampoo didn't work for us. Our hair fell out, and we still had lice.
Don't use it in your bird though! I don't know if it's safe at all for them. It's very potent and likely dangerous.
