Lately, Lola has started to "bathe" in her food when I leave the house. I have absolutely no idea why! I do worry that she will get hungry when I'm gone for longer periods of time since she basically leaves herself with no food when she does that. Can someone please help me figure out what she is trying to say to me? I'm really concerned something is wrong and I'm missing it! Please help!

Can you be a little more specific? Is she climbing in and throwing food around? Or she's actually acting like she's bathing in it (throwing food on herself, flipping her wings?)

If she's just throwing the food around, she's probably tossing out the foods she doesn't like. My birds do the same thing.

Have you switched her to a new food lately that perhaps she doesn't like?

If she really is imitating "bathing"... does she have a water bowl in her cage that she could bathe in?

Thank you for the response! She is actually imitating bathing. She has a water bowl she drinks out of and also uses for dunking her food in, so it gets changed multiple times a day. Maybe it's not being changed fast enough for her preference?

Maybe. That sounds very strange. Perhaps she's just having some fun? Maybe try a second water bowl? Each of my fids have 2 water bowls. One is up higher so no seeds, poop, pieces of toys, or feathers can get in it.
