My Goffin has red marks on her beak right under her nose where the skin attaches to the beak. I'm so scared that there is something wrong with her. I cannot afford another vet bill but I don't know what I will do if I lose her. Any help would be appreciated. I hope I am overreacting...:(

Do you have any photos of the beak? I think the only thing to do would be to get a vet check if your worried, for peace of mind.

Hope this is good enough. I couldn't get her to hold still to take a picture of the other side. It doesn't look as bad, but it still looks simular.

Thanks for the photo, I am sure some Goffin owners will be able to shed more light on this. I tried google, but couldn't find any info! :(

I've been at it for 2 hours now. I'm just terrified that there is something wrong with her... Please if anyone knows what is going on with her let me know asap. I can't afford another vet telling me that she is okay.

Well, this is probably the the 30th time since I got her last week that I have thought there was something wrong with her. I have decided to donate her to a local breeder who has the time and money to devote to her. I love her so much but I literally cannot sleep since I got her out of fear that something will happen to her.

I just wanted to post this here to remind myself later down the road that I cannot own pets because of my fear of them getting hurt. Just a little advice to anyone who wants to take on a cockatoo: Make sure you know what you are getting into. She still needs to be hand fed and I cannot hand feed her. I'm too scared of hurting her. I'm afraid that while I am gone something will happen to her. Most of all I cannot afford her vet bills. I wish I had never met this little angel because giving her up will be one of the hardest things I have ever done. I will not let her suffer because I cannot afford to keep her well.

Time: I have
Love: more than she can handle
Money: none

Cockatoos need all three....

Is she still a baby??? Where are you located?? If you were near, I could help you do the handfeeding.

It looks like an infection in the nares. I see you gave up the bird, but I figured I'd answer. I would have done a good sinus flushing and checked the throat. If either came up with slimy stuff I'd have ordered a sensitivity test from tge vet, took a culture, sent it to tge lab, and put a rush in it. A vet exam was necessary here.

I wish she would let us know how this poor thing !!!
Not coming back to update us is really low IMO.
But I really do hope this bird is OK :(
