Please help my fiance stop being an idiot!

My finance is constantly arguing with me about the care of my IRN and especially, the things that are toxic to her. He is pigheaded and has never been around parrots before he met me. Hes actually trying to tell me that aerosols, over heated teflon, and many other well known hazards to birds are safe. He said he wont believe me. Aaaaaaaaa! I tried showing him documentation, but he insists that all us parrot people don't know what we are talking about! How can I convince him? It worries me that he might use these things around her when I'm not home. Also, I'm just frustrated by his ignorance and arrogance. Any ideas? Maybe scientific proof?

My Advice: DUMP THE IDIOT! I GOT RID OF MY FIANCE & HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER. THERE IS ROOM IN MY LIFE FOR ONLY ONE MAN - MR. PRECIOUS. AN INTELLIGENT PERSON KNOWS THEY DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING. STUPID, IGNORANT PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT. YOUR FEARS ARE VALID & I THINK IT'S MORE ABOUT HIM NOT LIKING THE BIRD THAN IT IS ABOUT NOT BELIEVING SOMETHING IS TOXIC.

SORRY, BEEN DIVORCED TWICE. I'M TERRIBLE AT PICKING MEN. REGARDLESS, IF HE DOESN'T LOVE, RESPECT OR TRUST YOU ENOUGH TO BELIEVE YOU ABOUT THE BIRD, THEN HE DOESN'T LOVE, RESPECT OR TRUST YOU PERIOD! KICK HIM TO THE CURB NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

We could be twins:D I, too, always end up with men who have no respect for me, and these days I think Pete and my horse Malone treat me a lot better! They are the men in my life.

IF HE DOESN'T LOVE, RESPECT OR TRUST YOU ENOUGH TO BELIEVE YOU ABOUT THE BIRD, THEN HE DOESN'T LOVE, RESPECT OR TRUST YOU PERIOD!

This is a VERY good point. If we take a step back and look at the big picture, without focusing specifically on the parrot, aerosol sprays and Teflon, then what emerges is a person that derives his sense of potency and self-satisfied smugness from an ability to cause emotional worry and distress and belittlement in another.

Perhaps he wants attention too and this is the only way he knows. Is he jealous of the bird??

I think it might be a big part of it! Men tend to want lots of attention from us (after all they left their mother for us! Lol)
I am not a good cook so I rarely cook for my family(he does). However I cook every day for my birds and my husband always comment on that! I tell him that if he wants to eat the bird food I make, he is more than welcome....

I, too, have had men get jealous of the animals. My ex husband was especially jealous of the horses. He would always say, "You love them more than me." Towards the end though he was right; I did. Some of my friends who had children felt their husbands were jealous of the kids as well, especially when they were babies.

ALRIGHT ALL YOU MAN BASHERS!!!!!...I am a guy and since finding my Molly, she is all the only female I need! :) LOL

As for the OP, if your fiance loves and respects you then he will respect you wishes pertaining to your bird!

My , what a huge can of opened worms we have here , lolol

Men can be very funny creatures :( No disrespect to all of you good men on the forum :)

It does seem he is jealous of your relationship with your Bird .. Its what you call insecurity in a man for some reason :(
