Hi, Iā€™m looking into purchasing and expandable habitats cage. Bar
spacing is 13/16. Iā€™m aware that conures should not be housed larger
than 3/4. There current bar spacing is 5/8, 7inch cross bars.
New dimensions are 13/16, 12 inch cross bars. They do not make
smaller spacing anymore. The cage there in now the wheel snapped off but
the bolt to the wheel is broken off inside the bottom open bar. My cage is being supported by extra materials to not fall over.

Has anyone ever housed a Jenday or sun Conure in 13/16 or 1 inch
Bar spacing? Or know of any Jendays or suns who have been killed in this spacing? The cage would also be 4ft wide, I do not want them to fly across and be harmed through the bars. I tried another forum and found nothing.

Thanks

You should be able to yank out the end of the caster that snapped off, use a set of needle nose ViceGrips - $8 or so in a DIY store, Or failing that, try pushing the broken off part further into the leg. Also find replacement casters there or go to McMaster Carr website and match up the type of caster. MUCH cheaper than a new cage!!
You need to know the wheel diameter and the inside dimensions of the hollow leg to match it up. ITs most likely a stem type caster.

Thank you salty for the help of the broken wheel, I will try your suggestions!
Itā€™s not just the wheel there cage is two small to house my Conures together
time to invest in a larger cage.

Hey Salty, found the vice grips and the website for the wheels. We are working on the cage next week. Thank you so much for your help and yes the wheels are stem casters the stem corroded and broke off inside. I will try to pull it out or push it higher. Thank you again!
