Lala is a 4+/- year old Goffin's Cockatoo rescued from the shelter October 13th 2017. Beautiful, spunky and loves love! 💘
I just baked bird safe pine cones at 200°F for 35 minutes and there is still sap in them...are these pine cones ok for our Too?

I think so? The concern with baking branches and pine cones is to kill pathogens and bugs. I don’t think the sap is poisonous to the birds.

Ok great! Thank you! I hope she loves them!

The only concern is sap getting on the feathers. Just be mindful if there is excessive sap

Pine is on the no-no list for woods to use around parrots overhere.
The resin really is not good for them - we make terpentine from it!

I am not taking any chances.
Some chemicals are *too* interesting.

Probably best to find cones without sap on them... they can be a good foraging idea for birds and there are some bird stores that sell pine cones for birds.
