Parrots
Miligold macaw, cockatiel... Also co-exist with an African grey (husband's bird)
Here are some pictures that I took over the past couple of days. When looking at them, do you think her beak is too flakey? If so, what can I give her to help it? Also, I know she needs a trim. I am just trying to ease back into things before making her too upset.

I sure am happy to have her back. She seems equally happy to be back.

Looks good to me too. :) beautiful birdie!

Thanks. She is a beauty! She is super sweet also- for the most part. What do you all use to trim nails? She doesn't sit on her "trimming" perch much anymore, so she is getting plenty long.

Matty sure is STUNNING!!! :D

A dremel can be used for nails, or a nail clipper, or even just a heavy duty file. :)

Sandstone Perch was the best thing i have bought for BB. When I got him his nails were like needles . After a week they were filed down without me having to do anything.

Beak looks fine...beautiful bird!!!

Nah, that's something that is constantly growing, so it happens... new beak growth. That's all it is.

And as Wendy said, you can smooth it out with a dremmel, or your vet or groomer can, if it becomes necessary.

(Don't forget there is a blood supply to that beak!) If it ain't broken don't fix it...

One of the best purchases! Keeps my macaw nails down and smooth!

I could only only imagine what a bird would do when someone would approach their beak with a dremel tool. Kinda like a kid at the dentist having a drill come towards their mouth.

Do birds ever shed parts of their beak? My friends were once freaked out to find a piece of the tip of their orange wing's beak on the floor. Looked like it was hollowed out and just flaked off.

Maggie's bigger, and she just had her entire beak done in December. The vet still has all of his fingers...

It's really not a big deal.
