Thanks! She really enjoys to fly!

Thank you so much for posting pictures of Erin. She is beautiful and a very skillful flyer. I look at her wingspan and am always amazed with how wide the RFM wing span is. I also love her beautiful red front. She is NOT a red cheeked macaw like Valentino is but has her beautiful red front to show off along with the red cheeks.

Valentino is a dream come true. I have wanted a RFM since 1997 and almost resigned to the fact the dream would not come true but now that I have Valentino, even when he can be a little stinker, I do not regret all the work and preparation that went into acquiring him.

I thought you got Erin as a baby. How old was she when you did get her? I have never seen a RFM in any of our rescues or even for sale where I live. I had to research for a long time to find a breeder I was comfortable enough with to even think about getting a RFM. I was very very happy to find Wendy Craig. I would recommend her birds to anyone who can handle the species she raises. I am very grateful for my Valentino.

Great pics thanks for sharing:)

We got her at 1.5 years old from bird paradise. They're asking $1300 there, but we got her for $1000 since she was older and 2 of her siblings re still there but need work. one was bought young and returned and the other never left the store. How long were you on Wendys waiting list?

Hi Mara,

I began the process of deciding and solidified my decision to get a RFM in Sept 2011 and if I had the full amount paid I could of gotten a RFM spring of 2012 but it took me over a year to pay off the amount. Wendy was really good about taking payments when she didn't have to do that.

when I was real close to paying off Valentino two pairs had clutches but they came back DNA as females and I wanted a male. The pair that had Valentino went to nest late this year and they had three eggs. Two females and the only MALE. Both of us were sweating it out because Wendy thought she was going to have all females this year. I got lucky one of the babies was a male and since I had the name Valentino picked out before the parrot was even hatched Wendy began to call the male Valentino after she got the DNA results back. While raising Valentino she nick named him "My Vally Boy." I can put the phone near Valentino so he can hear her voice and he still recognizes her. It is very cute.

I was never on any waiting list probably because she took payments from me. I did notice that all the RFM's sold really fast and the blue throats were never even listed. Maybe its the blue throats that have a waiting list.
