golden capped conure
Hi- I am new here. I rescued a gold capped conure yesterday. We named him Bob. Not sure of age- I was told between 6-12 months. He is shy but likes to site on your chest. He is missing a toe on each foot and his tail has been chewed up also.
He spends most of the day in the food bowl so far. He doesn't fly at all- I haven't gotten a good look at his wings yet but I have a feeling they are damaged also.

Hi and welcome. Thats great that you have rescued him. It sounds like he has come to a lovely home :)

Bob is cute, he looks in reasonable condition. Being young still when he goes through the next molt he will look beautiful.

The missing toes could have happened in the nest, it isn't unusual for the parent birds to accidently damage toes of newly hatched chicks, tail feathers are easily broken due to the bird sliding down the bars & being a little rough. Looks like the wings have been clipped but they will be replaced in the next molt as well.

Just love him.:)

Oh wow, he is adorable! I have a cockatiel with two missing toes, my vet thinks it might have actually been a birth defect. Luckily, they can do quite well without them! If that is his/her only issue they will be a beautiful healthy birdy!

Thanks everyone. He is slowly getting more brave. He came and sat on the rope perch on the outside of his cage this afternoon and checking out all his stuff. I've got a few new toys coming in the mail that I think he will like. He's starting to make a little noise too.

Bob is very cute. My Nanday is missing a toenail. It's never affected her in any way as she is quite the acrobat. I really like Bob's "smiley" face. I always fall in love with smiley parrots!

Bob is very cute. I love the name Bob, as that is also my name.

Just the cutest picture...

Wow he is very cute :) well done for rescuing him I'm sure you will give him a good home, if he doesn't try to fly thesis a indication something's wrong :( keep us posted xx

The guy I got him said he doesn't fly-I think he will. He flaps his wings like crazy. I don't think they ever gave him the chance to fly.
