opps couldnt leave George and Mildred out, they come every morning and afternoon

also have a magpie that comes every morning and afternoon his name is black george but something tells me he might be a Georgina as i caught him stealing the fibers from my hanging plants, must be getting close to nesting season ??

Wow! It looks like you went all out on this. Looks to be a very sturdy and safe construction!

My one concern is the top of the nest boxes are going to be disgusting very soon with them sitting on top and pooping.

Also another concern would be that if the peachfaces started pairing up with one of the fischers--- hybrids between the two aren't much good.

But wow, nice aviary-- I wish I had one for my Umbrella Cockatoo.

You should built a entrance way with a door so you can close it before you open the aviary door to prevent escapees....Very nice though!!! Did you paint the framing??

Maybe some kind of plastic sheeting that wouldn't get too hot outdoors would work well on top of the nesting box. That way it would be easier to clean and disinfect. Also, the "airlock" idea is great! The only other thing I noticed is that they seem to have a pretty small area of shade. I'm sure that changes drastically throughout the day, but I guess as long as they get along in close quarters they should be ok.

Fantastic job. I take it you live in Australia . Loved the Lories:)

WOW!!! GREAT aviary! You did an amazing job putting that together!

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your birdies - each and every one of them. SO envious of the wild rainbow lorikeets. :D

Hi all sry for the late reply, been all hands on deck here, 2 very sick kids and the wife ta-boot and on top of that my ma having surgery, im almost wiped out but still have managed to get a few things done, as mentioned in the post above regarding the poop on top of the nest boxes, well i sorted that problem out as i had a off cut of lineo from the kids cubby house floor so that is now on top and is so much easyer to keep clean thanks for the tip :D
i was also going to build an entry so no birds could escape but they are pretty used to me now and they just go up and sit on the nest boxes now when i open the door.
also i did paint the frame and mesh, i had some left over 2k silver ( i paint cars and what not in my spare time ) as it sets very hard so while they climb around no paint chips off and wont poison the birds.
i also have my mums hen here ( blue black mask ) to pair up with my other one and well they didnt muck around thats for sure so hoping i will have some eggs soon. also picking up some more cobolts next week and hopfully some yellows with red hoods.

can some one please point out in the pic of the birds which are the peach faces and which are the fishers please ??

would also like to thank you all for the kind words and help / info.

Regards
Lee

The Fishers have eye rings, peachfaced do not. You have some lovely peachfaced mutations in your flock.

Good luck with the sick family.

Thanks for that I thought yhe ones with the white around there eyes are fishers but wasn't 100% sure. My plan is/was to have all masks only:20: looks like I better start sorting out my little collection its just so hard to find masks down here..

Wow great job with the aviary! I'm sure you will work out any minor kinks. Its always that way when building something new. Sorry to hear everyone is sick. Hope everyone is better soon. :)

If you join here - The African Lovebird Society of Australia Inc (small fee I think) you can post a request to the established breeders and see if they have any in your area that are pure. I have a feeling tat might be your best bet as sellers should have some knowledge of the lineage of offspring.
