ENRICHMENT IDEAS FOR YOUR PARROT
In the wild parrots make hundreds of choices every day. To keep the captive parrots living in our homes happy and healthy, we need to provide them “enrichment” that promotes natural and appropriate behaviors, encourages physical activity, presents them with mental challenges, and gives them back the opportunity to makes choices and decisions.
Through enrichment a parrot will gain a greater sense of control over their environment, which can greatly aid in reducing or preventing the occurrence behaviors such as plucking, self mutilation, feather destruction, screaming, biting, and chewing on household items.
