Perches in cage... vet tape??

So I have lots of different sizes and textures for my conures cage. There is one wooden dowel in there. I’ve seen where you cover play gyms with vet tape. Could I put that tape on the wooden dowel in his cage??

I have al the wooden dowel perches in my tiel's cage vet wrapped! They're nice and soft on their feet and my tiels get a better grip too.

Good to know. I just wasn’t sure if it would be something they would eat when not supervised in their cage.
