Hello there, welcome to the forums! That's an adorable little fellow you have there. I'm glad you found him on your lawn before he got hurt. What is his name? Very creative way to make him comfortable in his new home. Thank you for sharing the tip and video.

Thank you Allee.
The little fellow name Hoppy because when we found him he was sort of flapping wings and (hopping) through the grass.:)
The material we used on the perches was marine carpet. ;)

What a great idea! I would never have considered marine carpet, but it makes great sense. I am guessing that you had some available after a marine project you completed? That based on the fact that outside of the marine World, it is pretty much unheard of.

Watch for any sights of minor skin wear/cuts on his legs, claws, and pads. But that is more commonly a problem with humans that have consumed a little to much Rum, which resulted in an on-the-face fall. Land Lover refer to that as a rug burn. Mariner refer to that as wasted Rum!:D

Really like the rap-around and your cutting a flat surface on top to allow for a greater balance surface.

I truly believe that God has a special place for those who go that extra distances for those with Special Needs.

Consider a Web search based on Special Needs Parrots. There is a whole community out there that would also love to see your efforts and share information regarding caring for Special Needs Parrots.

FYI: For larger parrot owners, cut the joining edges at an inverted 45 degree angle, which will result in a very slight overlap of the surface fabric (minimum to no gaping). Freshly purchased marine carpet as with any carpet will need to off-gas in fresh air and Sunshine (outside) for a few days prior to use, especially indoors. Note: 'Outdoor Carpet' is a very different product and provides very little for a Special Needs Parrot to cling too, since it surface is very tight and smooth.
