All the sudden out of nowhere he started flapping and jumping at the wall of his cage to get out. I put a towel over the cage and turned the lights off and after a few minutes he stopped. I haven't looked too in detail at him in case he got spooked and started up again but he doesn't appear to have hurt himself and isn't bleeding. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything more I could have done to calm him down. Still kinda freaking out about it.

I have had my one of my cockatiels go in to panic mode when he was out of his cage. He flew of at full speed and hit the wall. everything ended up ok, my house is not big enough for him to get going too fast.
What I think happens is he hears a crow/raven outside and just goes crazy.
I found him out in the wild's of Camarillo and he may have had some close calls with a predator.

Now that it's morning I've had a chance to look at him...he did not seem to hurt himself in the attack but he DID have a big poop hanging out of him! He finally passed it and it seems really large and runny. Is he stressed? Sick? Maybe the antibiotics he was on a little while ago? I'm a worried mama! :(

Last week Buddy freaked. It was a fly zooming around him. The fly apparently came in with the dogs when I let them in. I had given Buddy and Venus fresh cut fruit, the fly was interested. Any who, Buddy gets scared of anything new. It's comedic once we fix his world, lol!! Just an FYI, he's spoiled rotten.

When my cockatiel hears a https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadada_ibis calling she panicks if she is out of the cage. Takes off in any direction. Had her wings trimmed so she can fly, but can't gain height.

These birds make a really loud call too.

Not nice when your bird panicks.

Sometimes when I'm holding, or trying to train my cockatiel, she goes crazy. She would fly everywhere, running into walls, other objects, and surprisingly always fine. Sometimes she has to catch her breath, or needs a minute to calm down, but she is alright.
