As stated many times, I've been a PC tech for over a decade. At one point I had an inventory that was quite substantial to say the least. :) Well hurricane Ike decided I didn't need that stuff anymore. :( Here are shots of my office when we lived on the coast before Ike hit.

Parrots are more fun anyway. Hubby is a gadget person too I hate the cords all over the place no offence . He is also facinated by computers. Were you able to save at least some of it? Hubby still has one of the first computers that texas instruments or metals and control put out way back when. The company has had both names and used to be located in Attleboro Mass.:)

No, we lost everything we didn't take with us, fortunately I had a Suburban at the time and Deb had her own car as well. The salt water is pretty corrosive as well and we had over 4 ft. of water in the house.

HOLY SMOKES, Wharf! That's a whole lotta cha-ching that went up into the "water". :( That had to have been absolutely devestating!!!

What's your "new" setup look like? What system do you run? Which one do you like best?

....just feeling around here...lol...you and Tony have helped me out LOADS not that long ago ;)

OMG that picture of the damage is heartbreaking. did you loose any family or pets:(

I build my own PC's so I run a custom rig. :D Once we're doing better $$ wise I plan on building a new one and the wife or kid will get this one.:D Here's a pic of the office where we live now. It has been rearranged since then and it's about to get rearranged again, possibly next weekend. (I'll tell you why if it all comes together) ;) I've always had my own office wherever I lived since around 1995 or so.

Yea Ike was a %^*%^ to us, also the first time I ever ran form a hurricane. I actually stood in the eye of Alicia when it hit the coast, standing in the eye of a hurricane defies description!!!

@Ali, no we only had our German Shepherd at the time and obviously she went with us. :)

 WOW, that looks SO neat and organized. I need to show that to the husband.
MY area is halfway decent...but then in the other corner of the room he's got HIS setup...with 3 monitors and such. NO clue how that works. I'll take a picture tomorrow ;)

NOw I can't wait til the UPDATED pictures. I hope everything works out for you, JUST as planned. :)

And PS.

I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like to be IN the eye of the storm.

Last year we had "Irene", which REALLY spared us. This year we had "Sandy", which is referred to as the Super Storm...and that one was hellifying. But the snow storm that hit a week AFTER Sany REALLY did us in. :(

Thank God we never had to evacuate though.

But wait...I've got a short story: When I arrived in the US for the first time in April or May of 1988, we drove from New Orleans to Galveston, where I saw the ocean/Gulf of Mexico for the first time in my life. It was GORGEOUS! We were planning on staying a few days, but one night at the hotel there was a storm warning and we hauled butt out of there, lol.

Wow, talk about a reminder...

Worst experience ever :(

No we didn't stay in the area. Both us the Company's we worked for vacated us to Dallas to the back up location. Scott's Company put us up in a Hotel near the backup location, which we stayed at for almost 2 weeks. Luckily the Company I worked for had their back-up location about 30 minutes from Scott's back up location.

And yes, there were lives lost :(

Nice to see some other enthusiasts, and even nicer to see some Linux books on that shelf. :D

Here's mine, I build it into a cabinet so that it matched the room, although the components have since been changed,

To re-build it all, what a mission
Praying you get back on your feet at a fast speed
