Ok, so after looking for a couple months for the owner of this patagonian conure that I found outside, there has been no luck. So it looks like I have adopted myself a new friend. She is bald on her back and chest and down her little legs. She only has feathers on the wings and tail. She does not appear to be plucking, but I do not think the feathers that she is missing will ever grow back. She now has a nice large cage with plenty of toys, and is eating a pellet diet now instead of seeds. She is still not all that fond of fresh foods of any kind. However, I am very persistent and she gets plenty of fresh stuff daily for breakfast and dinner. Since we live in FL she also gets outdoor time on the lanai every day with our eclectus (they get along from a distance, and I believe that the conure is afraid of the ekky if they are too close). We have named her Lucky and Peanut and all sorts of other nicknames, but mostly call her Peanut. She does not know step-up but we are working on it, and she is not fond of being touched yet but will let me pet her on the head through the bars of her cage. Anyway I just thought that I would give an update. Oh yeah, she saw the vet with a clean bill of health. Vet just said she was a scared little bird who probably wouldn't have lasted long outside with all the hawks that are around. I'm just glad I found her and she's not outside anymore.
