Hi hoow many of yous have had your little guy/girl get out of the house?
Last Saturday chi chi flew out the kitchen door when someone opened it.
I almost had a heart attack because I was calling him but he wasn't responding like he always dose, finely he did and he was two houses over in a tree about 15 feet up.
I called him so he could see me, tryed to get him to come and he looked like he was trying to figure out how to get down. All I had was a 8 foot ladder, so I took duck tape and taped some old hocky sticks togther lenth wise, and I put his favorete toy on the end, well obveously it did't work but I guess it scared him enough that he flew down to me and I got him, he landed right on me. And incase you ask yes he had his wings clipped. Saturday I'm gonna make a vet appointment to see if they were clipped right, because he zips all over the house, he dosen't get far but he got far enough to get in that tree.

Wow you sure were lucky, one can never be to careful.
Thank goodness you followed and knew exactly where Chi chi was, and able to bring him home safely, without any injuries.
How long ago were his wings clipped?
Glad it had a happy ending.

Wow, I'm glad everything turned out okay, that must have been horrifying. Is your heart okay? lol

Glad you shared this story. Many people think clipping prevents flying all together (Thus think its okay to take them outside - and sure there are some birds who are exceptions to this), but when a clipped bird gets enough adrenalin pumping and a slight breeze under its wings, it can certainly gain plenty of lift and speed, even with a proper clip.

I am so glad that you got him back, that was really scary for both of you!

The vet told me on Tuesday that if the bird can fly more than 6-10 feet and land on something instead of the ground then the wings must be clipped again.
