Parrot Documentary tonight on PBS

Thank you Wendy, I don't understand either. Hopefully one of our stations here will pick it up as I would love to watch.

i think i can copy off my DVR to VHS (yeah, that's why i don't do it, who uses VHS?) but i can't copy to dvd. If anyone gets desperate, i can do a VHS.

What a kind offer! As for me, I am afraid it may cause issues at the border with that FBI warning that seems to be on everything and I wouldn't want you to get into trouble. I may just be being paranoid, I get that way sometimes.

I enjoyed the show. My husband and I both teared up a few times.

I thought it was very well done. And those hippies are doing a lot more then any of us to get birds back in the wild. ;) So I commend them for their work. Those birds that were still close by looked pretty young. I'm sure the birds will hang close for awhile as they see those birds as flock members until they mature and find a mate. All in all, a job well done I would say!

And I don't think any of us, especially here, should feel guilty. Many of us have rescues and those of us that don't, take good care of them. These birds need to go to a good home, since they were bred in captivity. Better a good home then one of those like you saw on the show!

Yup, i feel the same. We (collectively, humans) chose to keep parrots in captivity, and therefore we owe them a good life, the best we can provide for them.

I was so saddened by that poor cockatoo left in the foreclosed house. I can't imagine the level of fear and confusion he must have felt. My heart also broke for the nicotene addicted grey.

I missed the show....we were out late yesterday and forgot to set DVR.... :(

It's supposed to be on a few times Mikey. Do a search and set that DVR! ;)

I teared up multiple times during this show. I'm going to watch it again tonight, with hubby (he was at work last night). What gets to me is the looks on the birds faces. They look so innocent, yet so intelligent. You can see the wheels turning as they think about whatever is happening at that moment. Specially on Basil, the YNA they showed...his pretty amber eyes were so full of feeling! ahhhhhhhh i am such a sucker for these beautiful feathered creatures, they have stolen my heart!!!

Its on again on Friday early morning so I set it to record on my DVR from my phone... :)

Valentino and I watched the program. Lupe ended up leaving half way though it because it made her too sad. She could not handle the sad parts of it at all. So she missed the part about the Scarlett Macaw breed and release program.

Valentino really liked watching the macaws. He stared at the screen and trilled. When I teared up they leaked into his back and he licked my face and drank them. I am not sure is this is bad but I didn't allow him to do it very much. I wiped away the rest of my tears in a tissue so he would not drink them.

What makes me feel bad is that I no longer have much a connection with my bird community. I realize that I need to get back into my bird community not only to reconnect with other parrot owners locally but hopefully be able to perform some community service by volunteering with my help. To get back out there can only help Valentino and I. I also would not mind getting back into pet theropy with a parrot to help others.

Rebecca, you have US!!!! :) Please, NEVER feel alone, abandoned or left out. You ALWAYS have us here, ok???

I don't think it will hurt Valentino one bit that he had some "saltines" (salty tears). I promise, my fids have tasted plenty of those before.

It's a GREAT idea that you want to get Valentino out into the public! You will make many, MANY people smile!!!!

HUGS to you!!!!

From hearing you guys talk about the program I dunno if it would be good for me to watch it cause I'll probably be in tears....
