Phoenix Landing, a rescue I debated putting an application in (but all their classes were too far for me) is holding one of its courses in Harford County Maryland.
I saw this on craigslist.

Phoenix Landing presents, Avian Cognition And Parrot Communication by Virginia Bush on Sunday April 22, 2012 from 1-3pm, at the McFaul Activity Center, 525 W. MacPhail Rd., BelAir, Maryland 21041(located behind MVA)
Virginia Bush combines her many years as an English as a Second Language teacher, her 11+ years of living with her African Grey, Chaucer, with the experiences of members of Avian Cognition Forum, the Yahoo group she founded and moderates, to form a unique approach to understanding the development and use of human language by companion parrots.
In this class she will talk about the ability of parrots to learn and use human language to communicate meaningfully. The discussion will focus on the value of enabling birds to learn from context, rather than direct instruction, in order to allow them to use words to meet needs of real importance to them, in their life with their human companions. The presentation will include strategies for enhancing language-learning from context.
Phoenix Landing hosts free educational seminars featuring speakers with special knowledge or experience related to the welfare of parrots. Come and learn more about how parrots think and behave, how you can be a better parrot guardian, and what we can all do towards improving the welfare of parrots both in captivity and in the wild.
Visit PHOENIX LANDING for additional information on this & other events.
*For health reasons, please do not bring your parrots with you to this event.
