Hi all!

small update as I've been taking it easy on the forum lately, little post here and there. But I've been focused on enjoying Parker for Parker rather than enjoying Parker for the forum interaction. That and we've recently begun the processes of selling our home, along with far more travel than is normal for us.

I broke down and bought Parker a pak o bird, and it arrived today. Based on these pictures, we're off to a great start!!

This is a slow introduction. Didn't close him in and try to walk him around. Just a slow intro. Put some treats in and let him walk in on his own. Couple more sessions and I'll try to take him out.

I can't wait, finally get to take him out and about to places. Really exciting!

Aren't they well made? I was able to go to the factory and watch them make mine! They put a lot of thought into the construction. I like how you can undo some zippers and 2 screws and the whole thing opens up for cleaning. Hope Parker enjoys his as much as Salty does his.

I hope my Happy gets to be in the club soon. I just need to bite the bullet and buy one.

Wrench, I remember your adventure. It was one of the drivers of my interest in this. So far I have to agree with everything you've said!

Jean, this is a medium. Not the oversized medium (they have a second "extended medium" or whatever it is called). Fits him perfectly and he's a larger ekkie.

Money saving Tip for you: I got 5% off by starting he checkout on their website but never completing it. That was not intentional, I got distracted and forgot. The next morning I got an email offering me 5% off to complete the checkout. It basically covered shipping costs.

Looks great Chris. I really like the idea because to me it seems birds are so vulnerable "out there" in just a harness and leash being so much more delicate than dogs for example. I'm sure it's fine, it's only my irrational thought there lol. Also, birds who aren't used to the open outdoors will probably feel more secure. I'll probably get one of those some day.

Yay welcome to the Pak O Bird club Parker! Looks happy!

Please continue to enjoy and focus on Parker for Parker and if we can share the odd story along the way that will be great.

Wishing you many enjoyable trips together.

Very cool, Chris! Will give you and Parker so much outdoor flexibility and adventure!

Nice, Chris! Parker looks right at home!

So excited about this! Unfortunately I didn't get to work with this on him yesterday since our realtor gave us some homework we had to work on.

Julie, you're right! I will say though that whenever I take Parker outside he generally seems pretty relaxed. We will occasionally sit on the porch with him on our shoulder. Not a great practice, but he is so clingy that for a minute or two, I have full faith there won't be any flyoff. P

Another great feature on these is the loops in the back for shoulder/seat belts in a car.
Before I got the Pak, I would put Salty into his MidWest Poquito cage. Great cage but HEAVY and not really suitable for car use. In any kind of accident, I sure Salty would have fared the worst because of the heavy cage. Now, any car journey, he goes into the Pak and thats in the back seat, seatbelted like a proper youngster.

Chris,

That looks really well made. I know of them and their reputation, but hadn't really taken a good look at photos of one before.

Sounds like a good way for getting Parker out and about

Cheers,

Cameron

How exciting! I know you have wanted to get him one for a while, and it looks like Parker is saying "about time dad":D Keep us posted on his progress and adventures:)

looks like its a hit with Parker I think from the pics we can safely say he approves...enjoy all the newfound freedom this will bring...I wonder what size would fit Mr Biggles...Ive not seen Pakobird available here though but they sure seem like the ideal way for a bird to enjoy the outdoors. they have a little carrier for budgies based on the same principall and my budgies and quaker love going outside in them but for Mr Biggles I think to be on the safe side a stronger make of carrier would be necessary like the Pakobird...Way to Go Parker the skys the limit now for you and Chris :) Enjoy your travels :)

Awesome for Parker!
Johnny actually sleeps in his now, we use it in the bedroom as his "night cage" but leave it open on the dresser. He stays in no problem and it's a very safe place for him. It helps tremendously when we take him out for hikes or camping, he knows he's in his fortress and is super confident in it. He's usually a closet talker but when we're hiking he'll spout off a few words and phrases here and there. It's hilarious. Hope you guys enjoy yours as much as we have! Worth every penny!
