parasites!! help!

hi so i have a bit of an odd scenario. to my shock and horror, i found what appeared to be pinworms in my gecko’s food last night when i went to change it. i moved him into an entirely different tank and put EVERYTHING that had been involved with the previous tank outside. i was so so careful to sanitize everything and be mindful of my own risk, yet i still woke up with symptoms of a parasitic infection. considering my indian ringneck is only just over 10 weeks old (and luckily just fully weaned), i know he needs so much attention and time outside of his cage, especially at this stage. yet i’m so so worried that i could potentially transfer whatever i caught onto him. i’ve handled him a little today, (with food gloves on) but i can’t tell if i’m being either too cautious or not cautious enough. if anyone can offer advice i’d love to hear it. i’m out of my mind with worry :,)

Are you using coco-fiber or any form of bedding that micro-biomes thrive in? IE springtails, this can also include pieces of furniture that are biodegradable.

It sounds like nemerteans (ribbon worms), they used to get into my geckos water and food all the time and its nothing to worry about, an easy fix is to get an elevated food dish or use papertowel as a substrate.. usually seeing any form of nemertean is a sign of a healthy bioactive vivarium.
Have you seen them in his water too?
