Earlier today I found a Craigslist ad for him.
We met Banjo earlier this afternoon, He came from a young couple that they would not be able to give him the time he needed because they are expecting their first child any day. Before the young couple,he was with an older couple that just let him sit in his cage :(. We have some work to do with him!!!!

He is on a good diet but the older couple that had him a year ago had him on a seed diet and his beak was very soft. It has grown back healthy but needs a trim to shape it properly.

He is settling in now and sitting in his cage munching on grapes. He has a pretty good vocabulary and has some funny noises he likes to make. His favorite is a sneeze like an old man. It's cute! (And no he is not really sneezing)

So, Monday it's off to the vet for a check up. Oh, Banjo is male and 14 yrs. old and does not know what to do with a toy...

What a handsome bird! Greys fascinate me. How neat for you to have found such a special boy :)

Thank you for taking him in and planning to work with him.
He is not plucked but rather in beautiful feathers. So maybe his life was not so bad.
Good luck with him. I always thought how wonderful it is too take an older bird. You just have to provide some good food and love and they shine sooner or later. I hope it's sooner in your case.....;)

Yes, he is in pretty good feather, just a little barbering going on but we will work with him and teach him what toys are for!

He is already talking and taking a real intrest in our goffin. I think he is showing off for him. lol

He has some minor trust issues but that we can work through. The biggestissue is the oldercouple used a water spray bottle as punishment so he hates water and bathes. We may never get over that but will try.

Congrats!! He looks like a good bird! I bet it will be fun to have a CAG! :D

Thank You Everyone!!! :)

I Think he's settling in pretty good, He actually took a grape when I handed it to him inside his cage. :). Just going to give him sometime.

Congradsssssssssssssssssssss

He's beautiful, congrats.

Well a little progress with Banjo, He's continuing to take food from my hands. We had him out to clean his cage, which was really bad and he flew on the floor and said to me, come here come here LOL.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have lots of fun.

Handsome new addition!!!! He looks in pretty good shape! ;)

A little more detail on Banjo's little flight yesterday. We were trying to get him off the top of his cage and he flew into the dining room.

Our pup decided to investigate the commotion. When Banjo saw the dog coming, he started calling out "Come Get Me!, Come Get Me!" and immediatly stepped up for treebee.

Banjo is definitly a womans bird, I can't do too much with him but he will begrudgingly will take a treat from me. When he does he will look at me then tilt his head and sarcastically say "What?"

In general he is quiet, He does talk a bit and whistle. We were told he has a pretty good vocabulary. I guess he is still settling in and will open up when he wants too.

We did catch him in his water bowl taking a bath this morning so maybe he will get over his fear of a shower when we get him all settled and happy.

Nice boy, congrats!

A little update on Banjo.

After three weeks he has taken a real shine to TreeBee. He let's her give scritches and beak rubs and asks her to "Come here" often then tries to feed her.

We have found that his vocabulary is quite a bit more extensive than we were told and he is constantly surprising us with new stuff.

The other day, TreeBee had to get on to our Goffin that was trying to modify our blinds. She said" No Parrot Modifications!" and banjo replied with "OH, Sh*t!"

We were also told that he didn't care for vegetables...Can you imagine a feathered grey garbage disposal? He devours most all in his food dish, then call the dogs and feeds them the rest!!!

TreeBee is still working towards getting him to step up, as I see it, it won't be long but she is doing everything on Banjo's time schedule.

I do want to thank everyone here for sharing so much knowledge. It make things so much easier when you know where to find the answer!!!

Wow, sounds like Banjo is doing great, and LOL at the expletive he makes. I love how he gives the dogs his leftovers too. Smart birdy.

What a smart little guy. He's so funny.
