Today was Justices 2nd day with us and she is doing great. Took her to the vet and we have a clean bill of health. I just have one question. When will it be a good time to start training her? She has a calm personality but she seems a little weary at times. I don't want to rush her.

Oh her head colors are so pretty! And I like the swing! Most bird are "wary" when they are new to a home. I would hold off on real training until she's settled in a bit more. Perhaps reassess the situation mid way through the week and see how she seems to be feeling and go from there. But it isn't ever too early to start forming a good bond. I would suggest sitting near her cage and reading out loud or just talking to her (doesn't matter what, just read or talk in a calm, soothing voice). When she approaches you, hand her a treat through the bars and tell her she's a good girl. Is she clipped or flighted? If she's clipped, it may not be a bad idea to open the door and see if she wants to come hang out on top of her cage for a while. You can always entice her back in with a yummy treat in her dish. If she is flighted, I would wait at least a few more days so she's more settled and is less likely to get spooked being so new and crash into something or flies up somewhere where it is difficult to get her back to her cage. If she seems to be pretty happy tomorrow or maybe Sunday, I would give her some toys to play with. Introduce the concept that your home is a fun place for her to be. Anyways, best of luck with her, she really looks like a sweetheart:D

Some people are big on jumping into training but my advice and experience, if she sounds sweet with no problems to resolve, so trust and friendship first. Once she looks forward to your approach and steps up for you, shes ready for next step and training!! They are such curious little things she will be ready in no time! Keep posting pics look forward to how you guys do together!

Awwww.... she is curious about you:) If you really want to "make a friend for life" sit next to her cage and eat a piece of fruit and then offer her some. Amazons like fruit;)
