Mango isnt an Ecki, but sometimes he decides to chomp us when we ask him to step up from a perch in his cage. Its only when he is in his cage, so I suspect hes a little territorial. Anyways, I use two hands, one to show him a treat, and the other to step up to. I use berries or walnuts, and make sure he sees it and wants it. Once I have his attention, I say "step up" very clear in my friendly voice while keeping the treat in sight. If he goes to bite when I put my finger out I say no, and I eat the teat, close the door and walk away. I go back a couple of minutes later and try again. I only had to do this a couple of times, and now he always steps up. He hasnt tried to bite in a really long time. He always gets a treat if he steps up out of his cage without being aggressive.
