So a week ago I got a 14 weeks old green wing macaw, I did not know if he was a female or male. I was hoping it would be a female. well today I got the sexing results from Animal Genetics; it is a male :(.

He prefers my girlfriend more from the first day lol.

I am worried that he won’t like me or he will always attack me when he grows up. what do you guys think, am I in trouble?

Did you guys see a male macaw bond with a man before?

(this is my first macaw ever. I don’t have much experience with them. The only experience I have is a regular interaction with couple macaws at a Zaksee sanctuary that I volunteer at when I have time) :red1:

Welcome! Plenty of macaw folks here. Meanwhile...
My advice... take any issue or topic which interests you, and use the Search Tab to read, read, read about it. I do that a lot. The people here are an amazing source of information, advice, and support. I'm glad you found this place!

Our male macaw is crazy over hubby. He interacts with everyone and I don't see him preferring one sex over the other.
It's important for both of you to share time with him. The more time you put into him, the faster your bond will grow.

Thank you GaleriaGia. Happy410 I am trying to share a lot of time with him. I am glad to hear about your bird not preferring one sex

Neither my Greenwing nor my Blue And Gold have any preference towards the sex of humans. They like most everyone, but there are exceptions, and I can't explain why they like or dislike certain people. They don't like or dislike the same people, it's just their personal preferences I guess.

Agree, the sex of the bird is secondary to how much he is socialized with people in general. invite friends, family over to meet him, take him to the park ( if he is harness trained), scout meetings, old folks homes, you name it,

My good friend has a green wing macaw male named Milo. He likes her, but he has become BEST buds with her father. He and dad hang out together 24/7. There is no question who his best friend is! I think it has more to do with socialization than anything else. I know Milo spent WAY more time with Dad than with my friend, and he likes Dad way better, though he is friendly with everybody else, too.
