My one year old sun conure has suddenly started flying to and biting people.Mainly my 12 year old daughter. He or she will also do this to strangers. Is t this just a passing hormonal. phase. He also is biting me a lot more.Is there any way to stop this?

How old is s/he? if he's about 2-3ish he's probably going through puberty and its VERY important NOT to inforce these behaviors. its the difference between your bird going back to being sweet and cuddly or staying a biter!! I would clip his/her wings but most people would say thats not necessary. it would just help control her flying to people and biting them. if he bites put him back in the cage for a little time out or on the floor and turn your back, well that wont work with a flighted bird but you get the idea stuff like that. and every single time he's being good give him a treat! pine nuts usually work very well:)

I've heard of some people that had birds that would fly to attack other people. Clipping the birds wings resulted in one of two things. 1.) the bird stopped being so bratty and was kept clipped to maintain the behavior (a temporary fix) 2.) the bird wound up on the ground running after the people to attack them.

An ideal behavior to train may be stationing. In other words, teaching a parrot to remain still when something within their environment would cause them to react adversely.
