The Rickeybird has climbed to the top of the door frame to pout.

My sassy, smart girl! She was in the middle of a chatting/singing spree and my husband tried to pet her. She got angry puff, leaning toward him and said “Noo” “Noo” each time he tried to touch her. He said “Alright I’ll respect your boundaries.” She said “boundaries” 😂

Little miss sass has been SASSIN'! She's on a trend with mimicry but I swear she only repeats the sassy things!! The other day she said "you deserve it" then "get bit"! But to balance things out she also told me "thank you" after I gave her a carrot the other day.

Please give Miss Sassafrass a great big kiss from me, won't you? Nuthin' I love more than a little birdie with lots of sass!! 💝💝💝

Oh no! I am so distraught 😫 My pretty little girl is plucking. Big patch on her belly and back. Her pretty red tummy feathers are all mostly plucked off as of today 😭 Vet visit in our future. I don’t understand why now.

Oh no, poor Ona and poor you, that's such a worry!! I was going to suggest maybe she's getting a little broody which might explain the plucking on her belly, but I don't know about her back 😟 All possible prayers headed your way, @onamom, I hope the visit to the vet helps!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Please keep my girl in your prayers :( We went for an emergency vet visit today because when we took her out of her sleep cage she had plucked almost all her belly. Nothing but pink skin. She had bloodwork and X-rays. Either her liver or GI tract are enlarged and they can’t tell yet which it is. She goes back tomorrow morning for another test. The two suspects right now are either metal poisoning or ABV. We are heartbroken.

I am praying with everything I've got for your girl, @onamom, I am SO sorry you're going through this!!

Loren, I'm so sorry. Sending prayers that this turns out to be something that is easily treated. One thing I know is that precious Ona could not be in better hands. Hugs to you and gentle scritches to Ona.

After zinc toxicity treatment, little miss has been doing great and her feathers are coming back in really well. Today, she made a new friend!!!

IMG_7608.jpeg

Went to see her bird sitter who was watching a pair of green cheeks. Ona ignored the other birds at first and then when she got curious she walked up to one and before we knew it they were kissing each other!

The third Green Cheek (not pictured) was more shy and didn’t get along as well with Ona. Ona could sense the shyness too and let some her territorial behavior come out with that one.

Oh I'm SO relieved Ona's doing so well!! She handled that treatment like a little champion. 💖
