On the road again headed to Columbus Ohio, and Mz. Boss Bird is at it again! She was riding between us in the truck when she decided to snuggle up on George's shoulder. Anytime Sunny gets cuddy watch out, and sure enough, after a moment her true motives came out. She wanted the strings on George's sweatshirt hood. After some discussion and much squawking she got back on her perch. George commented about how sneaky she was. She replied "Loza bull n pile a crap" LOL. At least she doesn't swear, but I think she wanted to.

Plax, I don't know where she got that. We haven't heard it before but we are her fourth home and every so often amazing things pop up. Thankfully no cussing but she spent a lot of time with kids and that seems to be where most of her vocabulary comes from. This is a two and a half day trip and she does get bored. Yesterday she told us to "shut up, shut up, shut up! after an argument about what got left home. She does bring us down to earth. LOL

LOL I woulda loved to see those quotes on video

I can relate. Salsa as well often comes out with things I've never heard from him before. Things that his previous owner, who was my very good friend, never mentioned he knew how to say. And she got Salsa as a chick and hand fed him, so everything he says he learned when he was with her. Her husband doesn't even know where or how Salsa learned some of the interesting phases he says or where the amazingly appropriate inflections he often uses came from. Sometimes I think Sals is some kind of robot-bird-drone being controlled by a human at a remote command center somewhere [kidding ;)]

Salsa doesn't cuss either, at all. He yells though and talks back to me. If I say "no!" to him in an angry voice he'll argue with me in a louder voice than mine as to override what I'm trying to tell him. It's really funny and I can't help but break down and start laughing about it when it happens ;). And I know there have never been any kids around him during his life, so that can't be where any parts of his repertoire come from. Sometimes it's astonishing how they're able to come out with things that seem so human when there's no clear origin for them.

Haha, that's great :D

Plax, We get the back talk and arguing also. Loud angry talking over me with perfect pace and inflection. Can't understand a word of it but there is no mistaking the intent. We will laugh and then so will Sunny. It ends the argument Sadly she doesn't say all the kid stuff she used to, I suppose because she no longer hears it. What and whatever are still common and the other day we had an important business customer who became fascinated by her "talons" as he called them. He pointed at her feet and she looked down then back at him and said "what's your problem?". We hear that a lot but he wasn't accustomed to that kind of retort from a bird. Right now she is amusing herself by telling jokes and then laughing uproariously at them. We can't help laughing with her even though only an occasional word is intelligible. This last one had something about "bird stuff" in it. Her sense of humor is like a little kid. I would love to get some of this on video but that is going to be a matter of luck. I never know when she will pop up with something. I'm going to try.

horsesculpter: Sunny sounds like quite a personality! That's really funny about the business customer and "what's your problem?" ...I laughed pretty well on that one :D And her arguing technique sounds to be a lot like Salsa's. One of the things Salsa yells at me to override my scolding voice is "RIGHT NOW! RIGHT NOW!" Kind of like in this video:

[ame="http://youtu.be/rKHltuwdJ-0"]RIGHT NOW! - YouTube[/ame]

But in the video he's not arguing, he's simply making a statement :)

That is too cute. Sunny doesn't say right now but she does say "I told you" in a very authorative tone. I tried to video her on my iPhone today in the truck when she was having quite a conversation with herself about sunny and birds and unintelligible stuff. As soon as I aimed the camera at her she shut up and came over to see what I was doing. Sunny is a character, and I credit that and her vocabulary to spending a year outside on a corner with a school bus stop. She was a neighborhood favorite and you can really hear the kids in both her words and her babble. We have had her two years now and she has become possessive of us and less inclined to talk to strangers like she used to. Hi and hello are about all they get.

Sunny sounds like a real cutie. Salsa talks all the time, camera or not. But there are lots of things he says which he refuses to say when the camera is pointed at him. Now Zaffer usually won't say a word with a cam on him. I've managed to catch him saying a few things, but not many.

ROFLMAO AWESOME!!! It floors me each and every time Niko says something that makes sense. When it doesn't make sense it's still funny. And I LOVE when they laugh because it sounds almost mischieveous, doesn't it? :D

Sunny is SO lucky to be with you horsesculpter! Never a dull moment, even though Sunny may seem bored ;)

Oh, we are the lucky ones. Sunny has brought a lot of laughter to our home and whether it is a local garage sale or a thousand mile trip she is always ready for an adventure. Sunny is not a cuddle bug though, and pets are strictly on her terms. The business man who was so interested in her feet was a extremely wealthy and highly placed CEO who came to look at a piece of public sculpture I was doing. Sunny is not impressed by status and if he had gotten any closer to her feet I am sure she would have bitten him with gusto.
